The Adobe Bridge interface feels bloated for what I need to do but these other apps have problems too. If there were developers out here working on that, here are my ESSENTIAL abilities for the "perfect" application.
My essential features are:
--Interface--
Thumbnail previews for image, video, text, AI, PSD (including 3D objects), and AE project files
Different icons for ALL files types (AI, AEP, h264, JPG, PSD, etc)
List the linked/supporting files for an AE or PSD file
All the normal ways to select and export files
--Features--
Ability to comment when saving
File versioning (and able to choose previous versions by last session, last Thursday, or producer's comment)
Embed EXIF, XMP metadata CORRECTLY (no more unreadable files)
Fast search by type, date, keywords,
etc.
Quick string-out video of selected files (for producer reviews)
I don't want something that does EVERYTHING just to add "flexibility". Adobe Prelude looks interesting if it handles image files too but AFAIK there is no program out there that does everything elegantly. But I don't feel it's worth more than $200-300 to me either (sorry, don't have that hundred grand....) - what would it need to do to get your money?

Oh dear, doesn't sound like there are a lot of options. Weird. Anyone got a couple of hundred thousand spare to develop a solution?
