It's fairly straightforward and requires you to adjust the properties manually as it does no analysis of the footage. This is usually easiest to do on footage that should have strong vertical or horizontal lines in it. You can put a layer with the grid effect above your footage to guide the process. Once you have the properties all set for your undistortion, you'll need another copy of the effect applied after compositing (on an adjustment layer, or up a comp level) with the "Reverse Lens Distortion" checkbox enabled in order to redistort the footage. Other than that I know that The Foundry's CameraTracker has some lens distortion features that will analyze a sequence and generate data on distortion that can be used to undistort/redistort. There's at least one free tutorial on using that feature: http://www.thefoundry.co.uk/products/cameratracker/training/#class8 -D On Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 8:46 AM, Byron Nash wrote: > Apparently no one using AE removes lens distortion. ;-) > > On Thu, Jun 21, 2012 at 9:07 AM, Ross Shain wrote: > >> Hi folks, >> I am curious to hear from any experienced AE artists who deal with lens >> distortion issues... >> >> Specifically, if you are using 3rd party applications to >> undistort/distort or manual techniques with AE. Hi folks,
I am curious to hear from any e= xperienced AE artists who deal with lens distortion issues...

Specif= ically, if you are using 3rd party applications to undistort/distort or man= ual techniques with AE. If anyone would like to share their workflow or sho= rtcomings, I am quite interested to hear from you.

Feel free to email me direct or post if this is a valuable thread to co= mment on.
Thanks,
Ross
