(Some tips from Stephen about the audio, I will use, thx!) put tiff through OpenDCP, to make JPEG2000 files. put JPEG2000 files through OpenDCP to make a MXF,=20 put audio channels through OpenDCP to make Audio5.1 MXF. use OpenDCP again (final tap) to create a DCP package from it, keeping = in mind the duration and entry point for Picture and Sound. (optional SMPTE subtitles) Format a 7200rpm HardDisk in Linux MBR Ext 3. (http://gparted.sourceforge.net/) buy a CRU Dataport Carrying Case, DX115, to connect with the DCP server. AE is a better quality tool for XYZ colorspace conversion and JPEG2000 encoding (Fnordware) than OpenDCP as outline in the article. If your soundtrack is stereo, a stereo DCP does load and play - however, = you may be very unsatisfied with how it sounds. That's why Academy/DCI = recommend 3.1 or 5.1 as a minimum. Some venues playback stereo just through left = and right. The center and sub are not active, so it will sound flat, too = soft with no bass. However, some venues wire stereo through all 6 speaker channels equally, which will blast out the theater. You don't have to do a full 3.1 or 5.1 mix. Use something like Vegas/Audition/ProTools etc. to create a simple 3.1 or 5.1 multiplex, strongly weight to center/left/right with proper LFE crossover at = theatrical levels. A good mix should average around -12db but monitoring on a setup weighted to -81db or so is recommended. Do not push a broadcast mix out = - that has been compressed to -3 or -6. It will clip and theaters will be = most unhappy with you. stephen van vuuren 336.202.4777 http://www.sv2dcp.com/ http://www.sv2studios.com/ http://www.outsideinthemovie.com/ A film is - or should be - more like music than like fiction. It should = be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what's behind the emotion, = the meaning, all that comes later. -Stanley Kubrick +---End of message---+ To unsubscribe send any message to +---End of message---+ To unsubscribe send any message to
