Does the client pay you for backups of that age? Personally I would tell the client it was done in an older version of the software that is no longer available and that remaking the animation would be a better choice to update it with today's design style / tech availability. What took you possibly many hours in 97 may take only one or two with the tech and skills you have now. Plus they'll have an HD version.
