those stand alone NAS boxes are Krap in general. they are generally based on FreeNAS / BSD and always seem to have poor network performance ( 30mb/sec over gigabit in my testing ). I've got a linux / fedora based NAS here that runs great. if you don't have linux skilz just do a mac OS based box because its faster, simpler, easier and will have good performance.
