I was picturing this as the natural evolution of AE's 3D capabilities, it's very exciting. I wonder whether the 680 series, being optimized for openGL, will swing back as the rendering powerhouse over the 5xx series. This really brings a whole new level of compositing in AE but Greg brings up a great point... are these layers truly integrated into the 2D / 3D system or is it more like the walled garden of the current raytracing engine? Also how is 32bit texture support? Can it handle .exrs for environmental lighting? I mean if so... this could potentially be a real threat to Nuke and Smoke.
