I've been really happy with the cloud subscription so far. I've sometimes waited through upgrade cycles to move to the next CS. It's nice to know that I can space the payments out. We've already run into the contracting issue here. It's been great to be able to rent software for a few months for them as well.

Your example of iOS doesn't work because iOS is not something that you pay for. You do pay a small amount for your feature-bearing updates to Mac OS, though not for the bug-fix updates.
