ended up going with the Dell ultrasharp U2410, even though I was about three seconds away from pulling the trigger on the NEC. I found out the GTX 680 I have only outputs 8bit color anyway, even through displayport, and I'd have to go up to a quadro or firepro card for native 10bit. No sense in spending an extra $500 on a feature I couldn't see (even though I'm sure there are some other advantages to the NEC). I did also see there were some color issues on earlier rev. U2410s, so I made sure the guy was selling the latest model A7. Picked one up brand new for under $400 on ebay, so I'll definitely report back. I think a side-by-side calibration comparison with the repaired Asus proArt might be interesting. They do hit the same market and pricepoint.

I recently picked up two 6-month-old Dell U2410s for $300 on Craigslist (a smokin deal) and haven't had any issues.  I use two Eizo CE240Ws at work, and while they are the gold standard in my opinion, the Dells certainly get me far enough for personal work and photography at home.

Hope this helps!

So I know this question gets asked every month or so, but I just had an asus PA256Q Pro-Art monitor wake up with a huge "splotch" - a darkened yellowish patch in dead center of the monitor, along with some kind of "tear" in the panel behind the main screen (looks like an inch-long scratch but is beneath the actual surface of the panel). And no, I didn't scratch it or clean it with battery acid, etc. To Asus's credit I already have an RMA with free shipping set up, and I bought this monitor as a refurb on ebay for $350 (originally $600+) so they have really great customer service and honored the 3 year warranty. But after using the Pro-Art for several months I have to say it is just blown away by the Eizo CG222W I have in a side-by-side comparisons. I am highly suspect of their claims it is true 10-bit color. Of course the Eizo was 3x more expensive, but still. Anyway I'm looking for a new 24" panel and the RMA'd one will go on my non-mission-critical workstation. I have heard great things about Dell's and HP dreamcolor panels, but not really looking to spend over $1,000 if I can help it. Any ideas fellows?
