That sounds like it's exactly right. At the moment I've got no setup as I didn't want to get too deep and then have to amend things. In the past I've simply been parenting the shake keyframes to a null and linking that to the camera (exactly like the link that Jack sent through earlier). So as far as setups go, I'm wide open to suggestions.
