I can't attest to the service agreement
portion, but I would say that there are plenty of other sites and
services out there for training that are a LOT cheaper than the
$300 Cineversity thing.
I learned pretty much most of the ins and outs of C4d in about a
month using Lynda.com and other online tutorials only. Spend some
time each day trying new things, etc, and you'll basically feel
adept after a month or two..
I hadn't really done 3d in a while, and my previous experience was
with 3dsmax, and a little bit of Maya.. C4d was so intuitive when
it comes to how the object manager works, and everything is
non-destructive and works on layers (similar to PS, in my mind) so
you can turn on and off layers , and reorganize them to see how
they affect one another, etc.
Good luck! I think you'll enjoy working with Cinema4D
