I = have 8GB of ram in the laptop, and my swap files almost never get over = 256MB, maybe 512 every once i awhile. That being said, i am a pretty = clean person computer wise. I have CS6 installed with everything minus = dreamweaver and flash. But my mail system is pretty clean as well, under = 150MB since i file email and delete a lot. I gave up on saving emails = after projects are done long ago. So on a 40GB partition, i have 15GB available at all times. Plenty for = the system caches. The machine runs like a rocket, and just moving the = AE caches to the 80GB partition on SSD was the clincher. Moving those = files off the 5400 2.5" was key. I also turn off safe sleep, since i feel it is for people that don't = know what they are doing and never save files! I find it much faster to quit programs and restart them when i need them = rather than leaving every thing under the sun running at once as well. = Off the SSD, starting anything is so quick, i don't know why people = would leave apps running they haven't touched in a couple of days. My = wife is really bad at that, and her same machine running on a hard = drive, is pretty unusable to me. I pretty much set my systems up to only use the system partition for the = system and apps, i move all adobe caches to other fast media or raids on = desktops, and now, to an SSD on the laptop. I don't usually care if = something goes awry with my system since i can just pull out a clean = clone and replace then update my user folder that is only about 1.5GB = from an SD card i back up to daily. It all works pretty good. On 2012.Aug.27, at 10.47, Jim Curtis wrote: > Seems to me that a 120 internal drive is too small to efficiently = partition.
