All of the above and make sure you break up the fire into different
layers. For example, the core of the fire maybe quite stable and
doesn't need to flicker as much as the top of the flames. If you're
using a displacement map with noise you can throw a gradient on top of
your noise to increase the amount of displacement gradually.
