We have HD TVs and an HD subscription to DirecTV, but a lot of channels = are still distributed as 4:3 SD. So it's not just about what the = consumer owns. (And that said, I've seen far more "old" TVs than I would = have assumed in my recent travels.) If you wanted to be super-sure, ask exactly how the HD is being = downconverted to SD - is it being letterboxed, or centercut?
