Thank you very much. Render times for this comp with Ray Tracing set to 6 in a 16 bit project 1920x1080 went from 96 seconds per frame to 3 seconds. Rick Emery www.rickemery.com

you just have to add the 670 to the raytracer_supported_cards.txt
On OSX you have to “show package contents” of the AE app and then navigate to “Support Files” folder
Then add GeForce GTX 670

Crap. Just checked. On the 670 system, GPU is grayed out and says 'incompatible device or display driver'. On the system with the 680 GPU is available. Looks like someone is losing their 680 tonight. It's good being the only one in graphics with admin rights for the boxes. (-;
Thanks for the help. I was doing something wrong. Trying to save $150.00.

I've got a GTX 680 in one box and a GTX 670 in my box. I got the 680 on the recommendation of Todd K. When I built this new box, I had a set budget and got the 670 in order to get a little more ram. When the other artist leaves tonight, I'll swap out the cards and see what difference it makes.
My system. HP z620
12 core 2.3ghz 32GBs ram
CS 6 Production Premium running on SSD EVGA GTX670 2GB ram the other card is EVGA GTX 680 3GB ram.
My personal experience is that even with a Quadro 4000 for Mac, raytrace rendering in Ae is unusably slow. YMMV. I bought the card for Pr, where it kicks some serious ass. . +---End of message---+
