(Or cobble one together with some environment fog or something.) Not nearly as expensive as true 3D DoF, and usually fine. I think I've only rendered a few shots from Maya in the last 4 years where I've actually needed to use true 3D DoF. Frischluft Depth Of Field in AE and a depth pass is often nice. (zBlur in Nuke is even better -- looks great, easy to dial in, and fast. I think it's one of the few post-process DoF plugins I've seen that doesn't have major problems with objects overlapping at different depths. But I digress...) Seems like a moot point if you've got a good video card, but just a thought for those without. I still haven't gotten into 3D in After Effects so I'm not sure if what I'm suggesting is possible or feasible. A thought, though... - Nathan On Tue, Sep 11, 2012 at 6:56 PM, Chris Zwar wrote: > No, I'd be insane to attempt doing a proper commercial project that way. > > This was just a bit of experimentation on my home machine. This was just a bit of experimentation on my home machine. =A0I'd just = bought CS6 and was playing around with the new features, I didn't know = until I hit the render button that it would take 55 minutes a frame!

It's a very simple project, I'll bring it into work and see how the= render times compare on a MacPro with a Quadro 4000.
