| Sorry for the OT (especially you Mac users), but I'm churning through a lot of render-intensive stuff these days and I'd like to upgrade my Windows PC. I'm happy with my Video Cards (Quadro 400 + Tesla Combo), my Case (Alienware tower) & Power Supply (750 watts), and drives... but my Motherboard only supports an Intel Core Duo Quad processor and 8 gigs of RAM, so I'm definitely behind the curve on the CPU. I want to get a new motherboard, processor(s), and RAM, and I'm having a hard time finding solid info on what the best bang-for-the buck is for AE and Premiere work. As I understand it, Ivy Bridge is more optimized for power efficiency rather than number crunching? So do I go for Sandy Bridge? Or stick with Xeon? I'd also like to stick with a budget for these three components of about $1.5K, so getting 12 processors and 64GB of RAM is probably out.
