Nice config, how does the Gigabyte board compare to the  similarly priced Asus P9X79?

FWIW, last year, had got a 12Gb pack (3x4gb) and after a while added another of the same, with no problem at all. If the mobo has the small version listed in its RAM supported list  it should support the big one too.

Buying the paired 64Gb kit, you'll spend $1607 on all of it

Keep in mind with high-performance Ram at those quantities, you'll want to manually set your timings or enable XMP in your bios.. it won't be "completely" plug - n- play.
