| The default tool should be the last one you selected. In general, a good working strategy is to press V to get the Selection tool, then just press and hold the key to temporarily select other tools (such as G for masking). When you release that key, the tool reverts to the previously selected one. In the case of Text, that tool is auto-selected if you double-click a text layer; might that be what's going on? Or perhaps the Text tool is just selected, and you only notice the specific cursor when you move it over the Comp panel? (If I remember correctly, it acts like a selection tool in the Timeline panel.) - Chris |
