Is this problem specific to this particular ProRes file, or do all ProRes files have this problem? If the problem is isolated to particular media, you can always email it to aebugs at adobe.com and the AE team will take a look at it.

on 10.6.8 kills my AE app - makes it unresponsive with the spinning

to convert the QT file to a DPX sequence and work with that but what a
pain!
