Without going into long details, sometimes the camera lens setting doesn't come across from maya. Generally, if the camera has been baked properly then the position and rotation data will come over to AE without any problems. But the lens setting - what AE calls the 'zoom' - is sometimes different. Adjusting this so it matches the Maya camera will bring everything back into alignment.
I've never had a camera from Maya that simply didn't work, unless it hadn't been baked properly.
