Yes, I'm not crazy about learning Encore just to deal with this issue. But to pursue it a bit further, can I import a flat PSD file and overlay into Encore and get to where I'm going?

FWIW, I had a DVDSP issue once that even reinstalling wouldn't fix. It was an error on build. I tried everything with no luck. I ended up doing part two of a two disk series in Encore. Lucky I had it on hand. But, it forced me to make an identical menu in Encore using the Encore method of making menus, which is entirely different, and a bit more obtuse.
Sad thing is
Apple won't be fixing DVDSP at this point.
