DVD authoring is a pain at best and there are new hiccups to learn in Encore but it much better than DVDSP. One thing that threw me for a bit was that when previewing in Encore when you went from a movie before a menu to the menu there would be a black flash - however when I made the DVD or iso it wasn't there.
