Pretty embarrassing considering how long I've been using Ae (self taught), and that I often use other neighboring buttons. Oh well. That's certainly not the only thing I don't know about Ae!

No, it's a very old feature.

Live Update is on by default. You turn it off if the constant rendering of changes makes your interaction with parameters too sluggish.
