I'll second what Nathan said: I've used mocha with these shots, and the Bezier Warp effect to curve the new display to match. Make sure Bezier Warp is above Corner Pin in the ECP stack. And if you want to get good screen reflections and shows, if possible place a flat 50% graphic on the monitors during the shoot, then use a mode such as Overlay or Hard Light to composite your new screen over the monitor face.

good luck -

I've stopped putting markers on almost everything I do like this (which most commonly seems to be iPhone screen tracking) and have good success with Mocha.  The markers end up just creating extra work when you need to paint them out to keep the original reflections.  If the surface is very reflective and/or has no border/frame around it, I'd do a test first, but you're generally safe with Mocha and no markers.

Should be able to just warp/bulge your replacement screens a little bit in AE to get them to match the CRT curvature -- especially with original reflections laid back on top which will help the replacements feel curved.

Getting ready to shoot a short with a decent amount of screen replacements. Almost all are old school CRTs with small to medium curvature on the glass. I was the reflection of the lighting etc. on the monitor to be part of the final composite.

Do you think with improvements to trackers that points are needed and if so, is a very thin cross (to minimize filling in the reflection map) good enough? Much of the lighting will be low key or night lighting. Will be shoot with C300.

Probably will be using AE and/or AE Mocha’s trackers. No hand held – all dolly/jib and occasionally lockoff.

A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.
