There is an easy way to swap textures - as long as the model remains the same, just replace the texture file in the diffuse channel from within the element gui. Click on the object materials icon and the varying textures (spec, diffuse, etc) will load up in the box below it. You can then bring in multiple copies of the same object, assign them to different groups and have a different texture map on each one.
