The Queue already assumes that you're writing out video, which makes perfect sense. It seems rational to me that if you have audio in the comp, the program would assume it's part of the export. But as Brian suggested, maybe a pop-up appears, asking you to click the "fur sure" button if you want to include audio.

I also find it inconvenient that names get incremented when duping layers or comps. An alternative is "copy" gets added, à la FCP or Photoshop. Whatever it is, I just wish I could click on a name to make it live, instead of having to hit the return button. After working in FCP for 10 minutes, switching back to AE, it usually takes me a second to realize that I'm not getting anywhere by clicking.

I don't think the Render Queue should make any assumptions.  I don't want stuff added without my knowledge.  Perhaps it could be a preference?

It is a bit like when I duplicate a solid or comp in the project window, AE presumes I'd like to increase the number.  Sometimes yes, sometimes no.  Often my client will have specific numbers for each deliverable.  If I duplicate a comp, it's renumbered - often incorrectly.  I'd like to name my solids Black 1920, duplicate it and AE renames it Black 1921.  Forcing me to name it with the number at the front or add characters.

Maybe I would like an audio track, maybe I wouldn't, but I'd prefer to make that decision.

That seems reasonable to me.

Or, if the comp has audio, should the render module default to audio on?
