More evidence that the Mac as a personal computer is probably going away, sooner or later. If I were a betting man, I think the chance of any significant new Mac Pros or development of Apple workstations is getting near zero. It’s looking more like just a question of when all of us on this list will be using Windows – and if Microsoft continues to mimic maybe it will be Linux. FCPX might end up as iOS app running on a multi-core ARM or custom Apple CPU. While smartphones and tablets are cool and such – I wonder if Apple will live to regret abandoning the power user as every move they’ve made in the last few years seems to point to.
