All those developer battles are moot, if it is a closed system. It needn't be Linux, but anything built on top of FreeBSD or something else. Its more about Adobe having their own OS rather than Adobe supporting Open Source platforms like Ubuntu etc.,  Its a slippery slope, once you control the OS, now you *have* to control the hardware...
