This was a request from Adobe so that mocha AE would not have licensing issues for cloud, EDU and trials (not an incentive to sell upgrades). But while we are on the subject... the 3.1 version of mocha AE and mocha Pro did ship last week and registered AE owners can purchase upgrades to either for more features (and the ability to launch on its own).
