Well good question, Teddy. We use Retrospect and have for more than 15 years through DLT, AIT, LTO 3 to LTO 5. We've actually had some issues with Retrospect over the years, corrupted catalogues, etc, but overall we've been pretty lucky with all of our back-ups and never really been stung with lost data.
Having said this we are looking at some other back-up solutions as we move into LTO 5. These all come highly recommended:
What backup software do you guys use?

Yup! I agree, Carey. I love living on a big San now with redundancy, global spares that automatically rebuild when there's a drive failure.
We did find that Lacies, especially power supplies, did fail more than G Drives, but we've had G Drives fail, too.
So if it spins, it will eventually die. Buy an LTO for overnight back-ups and you'll sleep better. :) Jack Tunnicliffe Javapost Production

Nearly every disk I've ever had from any source fails eventually.

LaCie has always been dreadful in my experience. Nearly every disk I had from them failed eventually.
