hi List,

thanks for the comments, I'll update my choice of videocard.

What card does have the most CUDA's at the moment?

And which one has the best price/cuda ratio?

I know that the 500 series is quite nice, but they are not for sale anymore.

Will keep you posted on the build.

Should be done in approx 10 days.

kind regards,

Marcel van Berk

I look forward to seeing some benchmarks.

A great, large well-cooled case alternative would be the Cooler Master Cosmos II.

And while the Noctua is a good cooler you may want to consider a pair of Corsair H100 or H80's if you don't have space for the two rads. They are pretty quiet and easy to install, given the right case. Closed loop liquid cooling like this is no muss no fuss.

This is largely a warning, but i just wanted to get this out there since I saw it was on your list.

Unless you already have the HAF X case, I'm going to give you this slight warning about it.

The case is super nice and there's tons of room inside, but I ran into a huge issue when building that I've read a lot of people have.

Basically the 6 sides of the case aren't completely square in a lot of the builds. This doesn't hurt much of the build, the motherboard seats fine and all of that, but what it did affect is my video card mounting/seating.  Because the connection to the motherboard is on one plane, and the rear of the card is supposed to be perpendicular but was slightly off, they wouldn't line up properly. If i wanted to screw the video card into the rear slot area, it would unseat the card from the PCIe connection some. Ever so slightly mind you, but enough that it caused some issues and I kept having to check what the heck was going on. Eventually I settled for the rear of the card being a bit offset/angled inside of the rear slot area. It's not horrible, but it's not perfectly aligned.

I bought mine a year ago with this issue and people had issues with it for months beforehand. It may be sorted out now, but just a word of caution. if you're a perfectionist, this may get under your skin.

hi List,

I am planning on building a 32core machine next week.

It's going to be a :

Supermicro H8DG-6-F AMD server

AMD Opteron Interlagos 6272 (2x)

Kingston KTD-PE316K4/32GB kit (2x)

Coolermaster HAF X tower case

Antec True Power Quattro 1200 EC

Noctua NH-U9DO A3 Cpu Cooler (2x)

Intel SSD 520 series 180GB (2x)

I still have 2x Quadro FX 4800 cards, that will go in.

And some other stuff, like BluRay burner etc.

I'm planning on running Windows 7 Pro 64bit (that will allow for up to 192 Gb of Ram)

It's mainly for Adobe Master CS6 (AE, AME, PR), Cinema4d and for creating DCPs.

Is there anything that I should think of, before ordering the build ?

Thx a lot !

kind regards,
