on the lines of nodal compositing; for me there are a few operations I miss in AE. Primarily the ability to have a single copy of a "master effect" applied to multiple layers, and able to update instantly on all those layers with a single set of controls. You can rig this up using expressions and scripts but I wish there was an easier way. Additionally, better EXR handling and support! Maybe a 3d layer pass compositing mode, instead of having to precomp 20 layers with mattes and blending modes...

on another note, I just wanted to say the updates to the rotobrush in CS6 are really quite incredible. I'm working on a job that would have taken me over a month in less than a week. Keep improving the algos on rotobrush! please! Once you understand how it works (and it's not super intuitive) it is one of the single best tools AE has to offer. Even in situations where mocha fails...

Thanks, Scott. This is exactly the sort of feedback that publishing this list is intended to provoke. We've gotten several instances of this request this morning in response to our post. (Thanks, Harry.)

re: nodal compositing and track mattes:

For me the issue isn't so much about 32bit color, as it is my inability to get a trackmatte for a layer with an effect, or which has transformations on it. Set Matte is no good to me if I'm trying to get a matte from a text layer that's moving about in the frame. Also very often i'm using some sort of ramp/gradient/noise effect on a solid to generate a property map to plug into Particular or Compound blur or any other filter. Again, I'm having to precompose because these effects aren't processed before they're plugged into whatever filter I'm using.
