I didn't think it was a rant, maybe it was a train of thought that got de=
-railed ;-)

I was thinking about two separate comments, firstly that node-based compo=
siting is a top feature request, and secondly that Nuke and After Effects=
 might be competitors.  Although separate, I was thinking about the poten=
tial for Adobe to implement node-based compositing as an attempt to compe=
te with Nuke.  And I totally understand that this was not what you said!

I suspect that at least some of the people who are requesting nodes in AE=
 are wanting After Effects to become Nuke, or hold some hope that it woul=
d open new markets to them.  I think this is wrong and it was to this tho=
ught - which I totally understand is not what you meant - that I responde=
d about the markets being different.

And I didn't mean to imply that adding nodes to After Effects would alien=
tate existing users, what I meant was that diverting resources away from =
features that would be more useful would annoy existing users.  I would b=
e really p****d if Adobe wasted resources on a linux port when we still d=
on't have a colour swatch palette or a histogram in the curves effect.

That's what I mean by competition (Nuke). Though I don't think there's mo=
re than maybe a 30% functional overlap between them. AE will never be the=
 hardcore nodal 3D compositor that Nuke is, and Nuke probably isn't anyon=
e's first choice for text animation. Chris, you took off on a tear withou=
t actually reading what I wrote, which is pretty much the opposite of wha=
t your rant assumed. I say, strengthen the things which make AE unique, w=
hich is as a CREATIVE platform. Which is why I said brushes and fonts. Ho=
w many other apps can one create really beautiful work quickly, often wit=
hout any external sources? Make it so that a generalist needs to know BOT=
H.
