When I started doing this stuff I was mainly interested in how a particul= ar effect was done / what plug ins were used, what software etc etc etc. = If video copilot had been around when I was starting out I would have be= en visiting the site every day waiting for new tutorials... Now I am much more interested in overall project workflows, project manag= ement, etc etc. The most difficult thing I find with After Effects is splitting up a proj= ect amongst several people. This has happened a lot to me recently- for = example a project might have a 15 day budget. I start it thinking it wil= l be just me for 15 days. I do a few days of work but then the deadline = changes, and suddenly there's five of us working on it and it has to be d= one tomorrow etc etc etc Then when it's done the client comes back a wee= k later with revisions, and I have to manage five separate After Effects = projects... Splitting projects apart and merging them back together - that's the type= of scenario that challenges me the most... I enjoy these threads! Although separate, I was thinking about the poten= tial for Adobe to implement node-based compositing as an attempt to compe= te with Nuke. And I totally understand that this was not what you said! I suspect that at least some of the people who are requesting nodes in AE= are wanting After Effects to become Nuke, or hold some hope that it woul= d open new markets to them. I think this is wrong and it was to this tho= ught - which I totally understand is not what you meant - that I responde= d about the markets being different. And I didn't mean to imply that adding nodes to After Effects would alien= tate existing users, what I meant was that diverting resources away from = features that would be more useful would annoy existing users. AE will never be the= hardcore nodal 3D compositor that Nuke is, and Nuke probably isn't anyon= e's first choice for text animation. I say, strengthen the things which make AE unique, w= hich is as a CREATIVE platform. Which is why I said brushes and fonts.
