For a long time I've wanted some sort of workable node view in AE (Stu Maschwitz used to talk about it on his blog occasionally). I definitely agree that if a node view is ever implemented, it shouldn't be to compete with Nuke, Fusion, or whatever else. It should be to aid in general functionality of AE, which it would, I think.
Even if the flowchart was just slightly improved, allowing the most basic of rerouting to be done in it, it would be a big help. I haven't opened the flowchart since CS5, but even then, simply zooming in or out of the flowchart would shift the position of the nodes. I say, strengthen the things which make AE unique, which is as a CREATIVE platform. Which is why I said brushes and fonts. How many other apps can one create really beautiful work quickly, often without any external sources?
