Yes, I don't have it in front of me so forgive any errors in the fine detail, but basically make your particles white, 100% opacity, and then set the visibility controls so they begin fading immediately from the camera- I think you set the 'far fade start' to 1, and the 'far vanish' to whatever value you need, eg 10000.
Once again you need two versions of the comp - your 'main' comp and the depth version.

Have you ever come across a solution that will generate a depth map for
particles generated in Particular?
