I have been lobbying for a node comp window in ae for quite a while. Not to deprecate the timeline. Not by a million years. But in fact one of the things that I envy most from node compositing environment is the flexibility to interconnect and use each node as a mask/trackmatte on the fly. No limits. In the AE timeline, having the opportunity to use any layer present in the timeline as a trackmatte not worrying about layer hierarchy position. And the ability to use the same layer as trackmatte infinite amount of times would be gold.
