I do find DNxHD a good stand in for 10bit previews on pc, but in terms of FCP, prores 4444 still rules because of the non-render workflow on OSX. However I now have the mac mini hooked up with remote desktop to my PC (using a crossover ethernet cable, TightVNC and a NAS RAID 0) so it's incredibly simple to open a VNC window on my PC to the mini, encode the raw exports and shoot them back to the workstation for upload. I highly recommend this setup. The quad core i7 mini is faster than even the fully loaded imac and is about equal to the mid-range mac pro for a fraction of the price. Additionally I can add in my laptop to a Qmaster cluster and get another 50% render boost for long sequences. Having recently migrated to PC for production work, but still otherwise sur= rounded by Macs, I'm finding my biggest, daily PITA is codec stuff.
When I was all mac, Prores ruled the pool. I used 4444 when I needed an alp= ha otherwise 422 and HQ most of the time.

I'm opening those Prores files on the PC but I sure ain't writing t= hem. After experimenting with DNX and running into gamma issues, I've s= ettled on Photo-JPEG for now which is "okay" but what I really wa= nt is a smart, modern, no-mus, no issue cross platform go-back-and-forth-al= l-day-and-never-a problem codec to work with my (nearly) all Adobe workflow= . Yeah, it needs to have 8bit, 10bit, RGB, 422, 444 and 4444 alpha capabili= ties, of course.

Another thing I want is dual preference settings for Multiprocessing in AE.= One for RAM previews (I'd chose off most of the time), the other for r= endering (I'd choose on most of the =A0time).

Another thing I want is an improvement to Dynamic Link functionality in PPr= o whereby I can create an AE comp on a video track above my selected clips = without obliterating the source clips, which I want for future retention, r= eference, etc. Also, while rendering previews in PPro is one option (when t= hey STICK), I'd love to be able to right click an AEP in the timeline a= nd choose "Render and Replace". Of course to retain maximum flexi= bility I could revert it back to an editable AEP comp again.

Off to file feature request.
