> I'm working with large frame sizes, too, but I'm usually only rendering 16 or 32 and usually previewing in 8 bit for speed. Is there a reason you need to work in 16 and 32 when setting up a project and doing ram previews?
Absolutely – most of my photographic animation techniques and effects don’t display correctly in 8-bit at all, some only work in float and/or linear light. And for footage that does not, much of my work is managing bitmaps, noise, banding from multiple photographic sources. 16-bit is always a minimum for me.
I do admit to using AE outside the norm and pushing it harder than most.
