I think that a Card wipe is actually better than venetian blinds for this  because you can add the needed Red color with a Light.

I am trying to build a diagonal venetian blind wipe effect to bring into avid.  I would like it to have wider panels that wipe across frame and first appear red and then become the incoming shot.  Is card wipe the effect for this?
