The Venetian Blind transition works on each strip simultaneously. Card Wipe offers more finesse in this area.

Here's a quick rundown -
1) Create a Camera and rotate it's z-rotation to 45 degrees or any desired value
2) Create a comp-sized Red Solid and apply Card Wipe. Set Card Wipe's Transition Width to 25% (the default of 50% isn't too sexy-looking). Set Back Layer to None. Set Camera System to Comp Camera. Set Flip Axis to Y
3) CTRL+SHIFT+Y to open up the Solid Setting dialog. Enable the lock aspect ratio switch. Scrub the width or height settings until the comp frame is completely filled. If you have the Preview switch enabled in this dialog window, you should be able to obtain realtime feedback.
4) You may want to add a Drop Shadow to add some depth

I am trying to build a diagonal venetian blind wipe effect to bring into
avid. I would like it to have wider panels that wipe across frame and
first appear red and then become the incoming shot. Is card wipe the
effect for this?
thanks

Lou
