Have you tried using SMB instead of AFP for file share?

OK well I think I have it figured out, it's super weird. Turns out if I drag files from the pc to the mac using the pc file explorer in windows 7, the file transfer always quits in the middle, even though the share is still online. However if I drag a file from the windows box onto the mac drive using OSX finder, the transfer completes just fine. I would guess the reverse is true - I'd need to drag the file over in windows explorer if transferring to a windows drive. Had a 70 gb project transfer in 11 minutes between the two RAIDS at around 80 MB/s over the lan cable. Success. Looks like it was a file handling error of some sort. Anyway, gonna set up a static IP between the two boxes and see if that fixes the issue of networking over wifi...

Probably not the solution you're looking for but there was a Mac mini firmware update today that might be worth trying. Sometimes they don't document everything being fixed, although this one was primarily for flickering monitors.

Nah that was the default setting, you were right. Actually much more urgent is that now the network between the computers drops out on every file transfer. Anyone experienced this? They are directly connected using Ethernet cable, and file safer starts fine. Then an error always pops up about a lost connection, even though it still looks ok. Driving me nuts.

Have you tried setting the service order in the Network settings in OSX?  You can click the little gear at the bottom of the list of Ethernet, Airport, etc. and choose "Set Service Order" then drag them around.  If wi-fi is currently above the ethernet connection, you might try putting ethernet first and see if that takes care of it.  ... Only thing is that I think the default would be for Ethernet to be first.  Hm...

Something to try at least,

So I have a mac mini with wifi connected to my PC with a crossover ethernet cable. I have set up file sharing so that I can see the mac drives on my pc and vice versa, I can even use VNC for remote desktop to/from either machine. However the mac mini seems determined to use the wifi for file sharing which maxes out around 5 MB/s for file transfers. When I disable wifi it will use the ethernet cable which is more like 55 MB/s, which is the goal. So I'd like to tell the machine only to use ethernet to connect to my home network for file transfer, and use wifi for internet connection only. When I tried to change the adapter settings (like workgroup) in network prefs on the mac, it wouldn't let me choose workgroup per internet adapter, only for the whole machine. Anyone know how to do this? Or an alternate way to set it up?
