It is a fussy linux playback system and we have one to test the files with and yup, they do need to be Little Endian 24bit QT files.

I figured out a work around, I get the Aiff files back from the audio house and convert them to QT audio files (24bit) using AME these files by nature are Little Endian.

I then wrote an AppleScript that would take the audio from one QT and apply it to the QT Video file of the same name and save it without recompressing the audio or video.

It works great, a little messy but at least I am not recompressing my video, we have 170 videos to process so I'm glad I could script it.

Thanks for all this tips.

Phil

Or if they even realize it is in their spec (or even care anymore). I've had that sort of thing specified, asked them about it, and been told not to worry about it...

Sometimes people asking just have an old spec that they no longer even understand. This is especially true of larger corporations with huge bureaucracies.

Have you tried asking the client how they suggest you create the files they're asking for?

I was thinking the same thing.  I can't believe that this would make a diff to anybody at this point in time.
