If you watch the Red Giant TV interview with John Knoll, he describes how= he built a rig to film real lens flares (might have been for the Star Wa= rs prequels- can't remember). Basically he got a box lined with black velvet, added a single LED, and b= uilt a motion control rig to move the box from a computer interface, then= pointed a camera with a particularly flarey lens at the box. It sounds like he could keyframe the flares in the same way you would wit= h software like Optical Flares or KLF, but he was actually controlling a = rig that created the flare in real life! Interesting that he didn't use his own software, but hats off anyway for = being a genius. -Chris -----Original Message----- From: Tim Clapham [mailto:helloluxx@gmail.com] Sent: Friday, January 11, 2013 01:07 PM To: 'After Effects Mail List' Subject: Re: [AE] Real life lens flares You can't beat the real thing though. ___ Tim Clapham Director ___ LUXX 3D Animation Motion Graphics ___ web : luxx.com.au blog : helloluxx.com On 11/01/2013, at 1:04 PM, Jim Curtis wrote: > You know, it would be cool if somebody made a plug in that recreated le= ns flares like these. > > Oh, wait=85 > > > > On Jan 10, 2013, at 5:27 PM, Chris Zwar wrote: > >> There's a HD vimeo link on this page showing a compilation of real-lif= e lens flares: >> >> http://blog.domisljije.si/2013/01/03/lens-flares/ >> >> Great resource if you're interested in reality... >> >> -Chris >> >> >> >> +---End of message---+ >> To unsubscribe send any message to > > > +---End of message---+ > To unsubscribe send any message to
