Oh there are occasional times I'd = want more but... then I have a 2010 iMac i7 2.93ghz. its 4 real cores, 8 = virtual and its about 5% faster on average than the 2 year older 8 core = zeon. I attribute this to mostly faster bus and hyper threading that = works pretty well for AE renders. Even though it lacks a nV GPU, it = stills edits pretty well with PP. my assistant editor uses it for = syncing, rough cutting and other jobs without complaint. in some = respects its a bit faster in handling than the big machine.=20 so its more about is it fast enough for your needs than fastest machine = in the 'hood, and do you have enough storage. a refurb i7 quadcore 17" = maxed on ram would be a very nice machine that would handle a lot of = people's needs. I'm not talking about hardcore 3D and AE main machine, = but for everything else I think it would pretty much fly if its anything = like the iMac I have. FWIW I'm eyeing replacing my current iMac with a new one mostly for the = nV GPU with 2G of Vram. problem is 3-4 weeks shipping delay S=
