The ASUS works for me, but the 17" is not so portable.
Expect withdrawal symptoms if there's no 2560x1440 display.

Recently bit the bullet on the top of the line 15" MBP Retina. Major league $$$ but I am delighted with the performance so far (except for the web page display issues which pop up occasionally.) I fully intend to replace my aging MacPro with it.
The big advantage of the MBPr is that it runs both OSX and Win8 beautifully so I only need the one laptop. Bought the adaptor to use my 30" Cinema Display with it.
