I've had lots of problems with Adobe's plug in management lately. For some reason several lug-ins managed to get installed into the App Support folder, and into the After Effects/Plug Ins folder. I guess if you install the version for Premeir and the version for AE separately maybe...But I would turn on AE or Prem and go get a cup of tea, return to my desk not to find the app booted and ready to work, but hung at a stupid dialog box telling me I had duplicates and blah blah blah.
Anyhow I foolishly tried to manage the situation myself (and you know how Adobe, like Apple, HATES to relinquish control of anything to do with its software) by moving the plug ins out of the App Support folder. Since then I got hangs at the boot screen.
I moved all the PIs back into the APp Support folder, even ones that were not there before, and emptied the AE PI folder, and that bollocked things up even more; some PIs would not be found, some still showed the duplicate message. So annoying. I've found the Abobe bloat in its support file structure to puzzling. I'll admit to knowing nothing about software development, but there is no other publisher I deal with that creates such bloat. It seems really inefficient. And the plug in management feels indicative of this. Why does it matter how many of the same PI I have installed, load the first one and ignore the rest. And why are there multiple ways to install a PI; pick a method and go with it. Save the confusion. Audio VSTs are handled this way. They only go in the VST folder in the Library. Done. I always know where to go look for troublesome VSTs and I never ever get duplicates.

I seriously dreaded opening it again. But I have had no further problems. It may be just a one time wait for indexing or something like that. if that is what happened to scare you. I would give it another chance. by all means abort them if it continues. Just guessing here, sorry. I will try to avoid needless conjecture in the future.

In CS6 (os X), anyone know if there are any issues of moving my plug-ins from the adobe /library/app support/ adobe/common /plug-ins/cs6 folder to the Applications/After Effetcs/Plug-ins folder?
I don't want to wait on Premiere and Media Encoder to load the plug-ins when I launch them. I want to leave them for AE only.
