Awhile back, Trish made two copies of layers, one using Reduce Interlace Flicker and the other using Fast Blur, and put the one on top in Difference mode. This technique is always instructive to see what the pixel differences actually are (it can be used to settle the old Gaussian vs. Fast Blur debate as well). No difference back then; admittedly haven't re-tested it for awhile.

Agreed; when I have time (and the image isn't moving - hah!), I use masks and blur just the problematic areas.

Agreed. I still grumble to this day that we didn't use HDTV (aka "Advanced Television") to get rid of both interlacing and non-integer frame rates once and for all. But legacy gear and working practices provide a huge amount of momentum to overcome - a healthy reminder for anyone who predicts the premature demise of otherwise outdated technologies.
