From Wikipedia:

  • The Color Burn mode divides the inverted bottom layer by the top layer, and then inverts the result. This darkens the top layer increasing the contrast to reflect the colour of the bottom layer. The darker the bottom layer, the more its colour is used. Blending with white produces no difference.

FWIW, the 'classic' effects clip any HDR values and only work properly in 8 / 16 bit modes.

Hi gang,

Does anyone have the math powering the Classic Color Burn blend mode from AE ?

I'm trying to recreate the effect but can't find the math in the Adobe PDF Reference guide 1.7 or older (it's one of the few missing).

Cheers,

Seb
