| If you have fast storage, you can do yourself a huge favor by converting the r3d to something without debayering (like a full debayer resized down to HD DPX, EXR or ProRes) as soon as possible. Having a sufficiently deep bit bucket makes instant access to the metadata HIGHLY overrated, IMO. The only time I go back to the 5K is on a shot by shot basis if the offline editor has done something stupid, like a 250% blowup on the dailies, and even then I usually show him the invariably slightly-out-of-focus result. If you're working on a job that's for a 4K theatrical finish, then of course disregard my comments.

We can playback RED footage no problem but rendering it or exporting it takes forever. How can we export a low quality version for client approval without a huge render?
